HISTORY
Coolabah is located at Bulliac 20kms North East of Gloucester NSW. It comprises of an area of 581.1HA (1436 acres) running from alluvial river flats stretching along 2.3 kms of the Gloucester River rising to spectacular dry rainforest which wraps around the hills encompassing the valley in which Coolabah sits; featuring eucalyptus, mahogany & Australian red Cedar.
Coolabah was originally settled by Joe Hill in 1914. By a persimmon tree that still stands today the original slab hut was built out of trees from the property. This was fine for a bachelor but upon his marriage to Adeline in 1920 Mr Hill built the current homestead for his bride and family. In due time eight boys where raised at the property with a Silky Oak planted at each boys birth.
During the early years Coolabah was predominantly a dairy farm and a well-respected Jersey stud was established, later commercial beef and sheep followed by Bulliac Angus and Suffolk Sheep Studs.
The Green family then purchased Coolabah in 1999 operating the property as a Angus beef operation for 16 years.
In November 2015 Coolabah was purchased by Tom & Judy Tregent of St Huberts Island NSW. The homestead at Coolabah now regularly bustle with the extended Tregent family including their sons & families of Andrew & Monique Tregent along with Aaron & Tetchie Tregent.
Since 2015 Coolabah has gone through extensive growth and improvement through pasture revitalisation, fencing replacement, watering point establishments & renovations to the main homestead.
Coolabah’s commercial beef herd comprises of a herd of Knowla black Angus alongside British Devon cattle. Herd management is overseen by cattleman Robert Bolton and the property turns off a select group of export beef each season.
Andrew & Monique Tregent established a boutique Belted Galloway herd in the Summer of 2015 with the first heifers arriving from New England Belted Galloway Stud at that time. Since that time the Stud has grown to over 16 select breeding animals.
